Inceptive is a portrayal of the esoteric quest for our return to the beginning.
There is a time of genesis for everything: the world, our body, our language, ideas, our existence. Inherent in that beginning there is also a natural end, a decay.
In this project, I am exploring the idea of our existence, the very source of it, in relation to the natural world. I am drawn to the natural rawness and honesty that exists in the elements that I use, such as fruits or vegetables, as a parallel to our own existence which comes from the same source. The journey of coming back to the beginning is a road that might contain exposing past wounds, returning to possible childhood memories, and potentially the act of being open to accept past “mistakes” or experiences. It is a journey of peeling off layers of old and tired skin in search of the initial, the pure one.
While performing in front of the camera, I am exposing my own self and body as an act of revelation, bravery and fragility; values that I strongly believe are inherent in the act of searching for our own truth.
At the same time I am opening a direct conversation between myself and the audience. I urge the viewer to consider their own values of truth and be brave enough to come as close as they can to the inceptive idea of their own existence.
